Apply now:
GSN has renewed Idiotest for a fourth season. A casting page is up directly through GSN.

There is no further information at this point on approximate premiere date, host and number of episodes. It is very likely that the fourth season of Idiotest will premiere in the Spring of 2017 (around March/April), Ben Gleib would return as host and the order will be 40 half-hour episodes (same as Season 3) or no more than 65 half-hour episodes (40 is more likely).

To apply casting, email CASTINGIDIOTEST@GMAIL.COM. See banner at right.

"Ready to Play?"

On GSN advertisements throughout this summer, the slogan "Ready to Play?" is displayed at the bottom of the GSN logo.

GSN has had a lot of slogans throughout the years. From "The network of Games" to "Play Everyday" and now (lesser known), "We're Game".

I personally like "Ready to Play?" With and also a Skin Wars play along game when new episodes still aired, GSN does challenge viewers to play. I personally know a lot of people who like to play along to Chain Reaction, Idiotest and Family Feud actively.

Do you like GSN's new-ish slogan?

Left-leaning GSN?

What do Ben Gleib, RuPaul, the Soska sisters and Garcelle Beauvais all have in common? They are all on GSN now and are all Barack Obama/Hillary Clinton supporters.

Jerry Springer, the former host of GSN's Baggage (which GSN reruns regularly) is also a Democrat who strongly supports Hillary Clinton.

This goes without saying: A vast majority of Hollywood celebrities have been Democrat. More stars tend to stray away from the Republican side of the political spectrum. Last month, the Democratic National Convention had far more star power than the Republican National Convention a week earlier.

With these hires, is there an undertone of Democratic views at GSN? GSN is headquartered in Santa Monica, Californina, in a very Democratic town within a very Democratic state. Without saying, Ben Gleib, RuPaul, Jerry Springer and the Soska Sisters were all great hires for their respective shows (with Garcelle Beauvais yet to be decided). I do not compliment or condemn GSN for having most on-air personalities as Obama/Clinton supporters. This is rather just an observation post.

The only three choices that go back in GSN history that are Republicans are Jeff Foxworthy (American Bible Challenge), Chuck Woolery (Lingo) and Mike Huckabee (who was in the running to host American Bible Challenge but declined).

GameShowNetworkNews does not endorse or disavow any political party or candidate.

GSN casting for trivia game show (likely 'Divided')

GSN is currently casting for a new game show. The new casting call is linked here. The casting call is posted on their casting page (which replaced the "expired" square for The Chase).

GSN does not have a title for this project but is very likely for a game show called Divided. Divided was originally based in the UK in 2009-10. In the March upfronts (and before), Divided was listed as an "In Development" project. GameShowNetworkNews reported in June that Divided (along with Breaking App) had been put on top of GSN's priorities for upcoming original development.

The casting call talks about trivia, which is what Divided consists of instead of stunts, puzzles or naked models. The stand out from the casting call is the statement "Can you convince anyone to agree with you?", which is what is unique about Divided.

Thoughts: 'Hellevator' on Fridays

The great news about this is all episodes of Hellevator all air in October. This upcoming season (or "four week event") will finish before Halloween. This all makes the most sense considering in October, before and around Halloween, is the most appropriate time for a Halloween-themed game show.

Last year, the two episodes of Hellevator that aired before Halloween (October 21st and 28th) averaged 467,000 total viewers and 215,000 18-49 viewers. The six episodes of Hellevator that aired after Halloween (November 4th, 11th, 18th; December 2nd, 9th, 16th) averaged 228,000 total viewers and 103,000 18-49 viewers. Notice a significant difference?

While GSN has made their schedule decision, I stated last week that GSN should schedule Hellevator on Wednesday nights. Two recent originals GSN ran new episodes on Friday nights were The Chase and Chain Reaction last Fall/Winter, which were two originals that GSN had clearly lost interest in by that time.

Does this Friday night scheduling translate to GSN losing interest in Hellevator? No. I think GSN fears that Hellevator will perform to the numbers it did after Halloween last year, while I think differently.

Prediction: Hellevator Season 2 ratings, on average, will be stuck in the middle of the pre-Halloween numbers and post-Halloween numbers of 2015. This means Hellevator will average around 350,000 total viewers and 150,000 18-49 viewers. I do predict that throughout the four weeks, the Hellevator audience will rise, not fall, causing a season high for one of the last episodes (October 21st and 28th). This will earn Hellevator a third season for October 2017.

New tonight on GSN: 'Winsanity'

A NEW episode of Winsanity will air tonight on GSN at 9pm ET. Donald Faison hosts. Kira Soltanovich serves as on-air announcer. At home viewers can play along at, where contestants have won $58,000 worth of prizes (including two new cars) since the premiere.

'Hellevator' Press release

For the Opportunity to Win up to $50,000, Teams of Four Descend Into an Abandoned Slaughterhouse to Conquer Terrifying Challenges Inspired by True Crime Stories
August 24, 2016 – Santa Monica, CA – GSN, the leader in game shows and competitive entertainment, announced today its horror-themed gameHELLEVATOR returns for season two with a special four-week network event, just in time for the Halloween season, with all-new spine-chilling weekly episodes, beginning Friday, October 7 at 9:00 PM ET/PT.  HELLEVATOR is produced by Matador and Blumhouse Productions, in association with Lionsgate.
Jason Blum, executive producer and master of the horror genre, whose company, Blumhouse Productions brought the world the “The Purge,” “Insidious,” “Ouija” and “Paranormal Activity” franchises, now presents a terrifying, genre-bending series that dares a team of four friends to ride a haunted elevator into the depths of an abandoned slaughterhouse. With $50,000 at stake, contestants must conquer multiple floors of terrifying chaos and hair-raising challenges in order to move on to the final level —The Inferno.
Each specially-themed episode is inspired by a true crime story and will also emulate a grisly scene invoked by one of the “Seven Deadly Sins” (Pride, Envy, Gluttony, Lust, Wrath, Greed and Sloth).  In addition to the psychological terror players will face during their quest, they must also endure the wrath of the show’s masterminds, horror film icons Jen and Sylvia Soska, aka the “Twisted Twins,” who work in tandem from their secret lair to torment and trip-up players as they struggle to remain sane and keep in mind, “it’s just a game.”
HELLEVATOR is produced by Matador and Blumhouse Productions, in association with Lionsgate. Executive Producers are Jason Blum (“Paranormal Activity,” “The Purge,”“Ouija” and “Insidious” franchises), who won a 2014 Emmy® Award for “The Normal Heart,” and “The Jinx” in 2015, and was nominated for an Academy Award® for “Whiplash”; Matador’s Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin (producers of “Lip Sync Battle”); Daniel Soiseth (“America’s Next Top Model”) and Jessica Rhoades.

'Hellevator' season premiere Friday, October 7th 9pm ET; New to GSN episodes (2014-15 season) of 'Family Feud' coming to GSN October 3rd

Season 2 of Hellevator
will premiere Friday,
October 7th on GSN.
GSN will announce through press release tomorrow that the second season of Hellevator will premiere Friday, October 7th at 9pm ET. One new episode will air each Friday night (October 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th). is first to publish a 30 second teaser. In the second season, Hellevator will focus on the "Seven Deadly Sins". Just like the first season, the story line for each Hellevator episode will be based off a true crime story. The end game is called "The Inferno" this year (the end game last year was called "The Labyrinth").

As reported earlier this year, teams on Hellevator will consist of four contestants (up from three last year).

The 2014-15 season of Family Feud, which is the fifth hosted by Steve Harvey, will begin to air on Monday, October 3rd. These "New to GSN" episodes will air Mondays-Fridays at 8pm and 8:30pm ET. Currently (and continuing), GSN airs Harvey's first four seasons of Family Feud (2010-14).

'Idiotest' returns NEW tonight with Comedians' episode

Idiotest returns tonight on GSN with a NEW episode at 10pm ET. In tonight's episode, teams of celebrity comedians will compete to win $10,000 for charity. Tiffany Haddish and Sarah Tiana will face off against Michael Kosta and Drew Lynch (the runner up on last summer's America's Got Talent). Ben Gleib hosts Idiotest. Only 5 episodes of Idiotest remain this season. Here is a link to a GSNVideos YouTube preview of tonight's NEW Idiotest episode.

Is GSN done with 'Skin Wars'?

Two months since the
Skin Wars finale,
GSN has still not
officially renewed the series
for a fourth season.
It is nearing two months since the season finale (June 29th). Recently, GSN pulled all episodes of Skin Wars from my cable provider's OnDemand list for GSN shows. Baggage, Family Feud (Harvey), Idiotest, Skin Wars: Fresh Paint and Winsanity remain.

So why no official announcement yet for Skin Wars Season 4?

My own conscious tells me GSN wants to renew Skin Wars and Skin Wars: Fresh Paint at once, possibly (and likely) with Idiotest too within the next month. What is likely occurring is GSN negotiations with RuPaul and/or Rebecca Romijn on scheduling and salary.

It was around this time last year when GSN renewed Skin Wars (August 27th) by press release and an unofficial renewal for Idiotest (September 14th).

How and When GSN should schedule 'Hellevator' and 'Window Warriors'

Fall is coming soon which means GSN will begin to push their two upcoming originals, which will take priority over Skin Wars, Skin Wars: Fresh Paint, Idiotest and Winsanity. Like last year, GSN will likely decorate their social media banners for Hellevator and then later in the Fall, Window Warriors.

Now, with Hellevator set for an October premiere and Window Warriors for November, here is how GSN should schedule the two:

Wednesdays in October (5th, 12th, 19th, 26th): One episode of Hellevator each Wednesday at 8pm.

Wednesdays in November (2nd, 9th, 16th, 30th) and December (7th and 14th): One episode of Window Warriors each Wednesday at 8pm. Thanksgiving week hiatus on November 23rd.

Beyond my thoughts on what GSN should do here, this is what I predict will actually happen if GSN plays their cards correctly.

New tonight on GSN: 'Winsanity'

Winsanity airs NEW tonight on GSN
at 9pm ET.
One new episode of Winsanity will air NEW tonight on GSN at 9pm ET. Donald Faison hosts. Kira Soltanovich serves as on-air announcer.

GSN has eliminated the 9:30pm new run of Winsanity. Instead, Family Feud will now air at 9:30pm and 12:30am, both replacing the second new Winsanity run. The 9pm new episode of Winsanity will encore at 12am and 3am (Chain Reaction will air at 3:30am). This all comes after poor Winsanity ratings through the series thus far, likely leading to cancellation.

Winsanity is halfway through its first season. Tonight is episode number 21 (of 40 taped).

You can play along live at home at, where contestants have won $58,000 in prizes, including two new cars!

A sneaky observation

While looking at the August 22-28 and August 29-September 4 GSN advanced schedules very closely, I now notice GSN will only air one new episode of Idiotest a week.

The new episode will air Tuesday at 10pm ET and a rerun at 10:30pm ET. Since April, two new episodes of Idiotest have aired at 10pm and 10:30pm ET.

Through and including August 2nd, 35 of 40 episodes of Idiotest have aired for this season. At this rate, with five episodes remaining, Idiotest will conclude on Tuesday, September 20th.

GSN must like Idiotest ratings enough to keep new episodes around longer. GSN does not have much else to advertise and focus on until Hellevator and Window Warriors premiere in October and November, respectively.

It is good news for Idiotest that GSN is extending the new episodes out as long as possible. At least new episodes of Idiotest are not getting the Winsanity treatment (Idiotest does not get prime slots taken away like Winsanity).
